The complement to Malanthrope, Canoptek Scarab Swarm gets a 1/1 Insect for each artifact or land card exiled from the target players graveyard

Its ability to generate warrior tokens and turn mana into extra combat steps leads to explosive turnsespecially when you have infinite mana

Four mana is a massive cost, a creature has to be Titan levels of good or you have to have vast amounts of spare mana before you are paying it

We also want topdeck manipulation (Brainstorm) and high cmc spells (Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre) but we can cheat a bit on the high cmc with cards that have alternate casting costs (Snuff Out)

As I have done more of these top X lists it has felt ever more pertinent to compare stricter categories as it is much more useful for cube design, deck construction and understanding the things that make those kinds of cards good
